Copywriting that speaks for your business

Small Business Owners

If you're like many business owners I know, you're overwhelmed with the whole social media thing. You know you need to "do" it, but you're not sure how. So you dip a toe in, tweet a couple of times, start a Facebook page. Then what? Too many get discouraged and write it off. But don't give up!

Look, we've all seen the stats:

  • 650 million active  Facebook users
  • 93% of US adults have Facebook accounts
  • 10+ billion tweets sent on Twitter since 2006
  • 2 billion videos streamed each day on YouTube
  • 126 million blogs on the Internet
  • Google+ gained over 100 million users in its first two months and is projected to reach 400 million in 2012

I speak on social media and although my focus is often on strategy and planning, most people are curious about how to actually create the content. We say that social media is a voracious reader, requiring lots and lots of content. If you're a small business owner, how do you make your business stand out? What do you do? What do you say?

It all starts with the written word, which is the basis of all this social-ness. Your words need to speak for you, to represent you, to tell your story, begin a relationship with a stranger. This type of writing may not come naturally to you. But that's where I come in!

I'm a professional marketer and copywriter, which means I've made my living for the last few years using words to help people tell their best stories, put their best foot forward, and reach out and touch their customers. In fact, my first company name was Words Are Us! I'm a member of the Professional Writers Association and have studied extensively with Nick Usborne, perhaps the best known web writing and social media teacher and speaker.
